Why it’s Important to Wear the Right Shoes

The majority of us will be guilty of having that “favourite pair of shoes”; the one pair we wear until we’re nearly walking on the ground itself because we’ve worn such a hole in the sole. With each person walking around the world on the average of four times in their lifetime there’s no wonder we go through hundreds of pairs of shoes, but it also shows the sheer importance of our feet. Here at Spartoo we recognise just how important shoes are in keeping our feet healthy, so here’s a short guide on shoe types:

Work shoes – these shoes are probably your least favourite; fitting in with the necessary dress code of your workplace. However, working full-time probably means these are also the most worn pair of shoes in your shoe collection. Thus, even though they may not be you favourite and the least important ones you want to replace, you should regularly be replacing these shoes once they start to look a bit scruffy and lose their shine.

Sport shoes – depending on just what sport it is that you are participating in will probably depend on how regularly and necessary it is for you to replace these shoes. Physically, the correct sport shoes are incredibly important as they provide all matters of support to joints within the body. Typically, if you are a keen runner, it is recommended that you replace your running shoes at least twice a year in order to keep the spring in the shoe and allow it to continue supporting your knees, ankles and so on.

Slippers – again, another shoe that can remain within our shoe collection for years on end without replacement. Whilst they don’t necessarily provide much support anyway and are just a comfort for you when walking around the house, they should also be replaced every so often. Slippers tend to have a thinner sole and will therefore wear easily and lose their grip, which can lead to dangers on slippery surfaces.
