Many people would like to give their bathroom a complete overhaul and are tempted by the notion of designer bathrooms. When choosing designer bathrooms however, there are several considerations that need to be made first.

The main consideration, even before asking a design company to consult, is how the bathroom is intended to be used. Will it be a bathroom for household members only? Will it be a guest bathroom? Or will it be a main bathroom and a central show piece in the home? Such questions are important. There will not be much point, for example, in going along with a designer’s suggestion to squeeze in a shower cubicle if the bathroom is to function mainly as a guest lavatory.

The second consideration is whether there is a particular atmosphere or ‘feel’ the householder would like to create. Some householders for example are attracted to the idea of the sleek, modern look, whilst others favour a more traditional Victorian brass effect. It is often helpful to both parties if the designer is aware of these ideas before plans are etched out.

The third consideration relates to the choice of design company itself.
It may be the case, for example, that some design prices are higher than others if the design company in question has to also employ sales staff and maintain high street showrooms. Design companies that are solely internet based will often have fewer liabilities of this nature.

It is also worthwhile asking what the after-sales service of the company involves, and whether any final checks are made to ensure the customer is satisfied at each stage of the project.
