Electric Mira Showers

Mira showers have been selling showers to the UK public and beyond since 1921. They know what the public want and need when it comes to showers and over the year have seen that change considerable. However, there has been one constant and that is demand for electric showers.

Mira Showers First Electric Shower

As you can imagine over the years Mira showers has come up with a number of innovations. They are credited with inventing many of the components used in modern showers. For example, in 1936 they came up with thermostatic mixing valves. They were initially not designed specifically for domestic showers, but this is the main use of this valve today.

In 1978, they came up with another innovation that many people simply could not live without and that was the electric shower. Other companies were developing them around about the same time, but it was Mira that was ready to launch first to the mass market.

Their electric shower heated the water on demand and did so safely and cheaply. Previously if you wanted a shower you had to plan for it and light the boiler. Now you could step into the shower as and when you wanted. By 1979 Mira were exporting this shower throughout the world under the brand name RADA. In 1981, they introduced the thermoscopic electric shower, which made taking a shower completely safe because it precisely controlled the mix of cold and hot water.

Mira Showers are Still Innovating

Today, Mira showers are still at the forefront when it comes to innovation. Electric showers have a real problem, which until now could not be solved. They do not last long because of lime scale, which builds up and reduces the effectiveness of the heating element and the flow of water. The engineers at Mira showers have come up with a solution in the form of their patented Clearscale system. This system has been an instant hit, and is already installed in their Azora, Galena and Sport showers. There are plans to roll it out across the range. They also have two new flow systems that they are also introducing called Opti-flo and Sensi-flo.
