The tango originated in the working class suburbia of Argentina and Uruguay. It has become a famous dance all over the world. There are many different variations of the tango and tango music, for example, the Ballroom tango, the Finnish tango and the Argentine tango. The Argentine tango is considered to be the dance that resembles the original tango dance the most.
The tango became very popular all over the world after its emergence, but the popularity of the tango fell due to World War One. People had no money and they obviously had more important things to worry about; the tango disappeared until around the 1930s.
After the war, the tango became popular again, but many of the primary pioneers of the tango and their children and relatives were extremely quick to shun the dance, arguing that it was now just a fashionable trend as it had moved too far away from its proletarian roots.
The tango had definitely become an extremely fashionable trend with the high society and became ever so popular, not only to learn to do the dance but also to go to watch a tango show.
The tango is making a comeback today and more and more people are taking part in dance classes in London and other world cities. If you would like to learn to do the tango or would like more information about the increasingly popular dance, then contact us here at Tango Movement and we will be happy to help you.
