Incentivise children with achievement certificates

Most children do work very hard and love to learn and get things right. However, we all know how distracting it can be to be a child, and how boring some things can seem, especially at school. It is not only children who need to have incentives to help them reach their achievements; this also carries on into adult life as bankers will tell you. However, if this method can be taught at a young age then it can be extremely effective.

It can be tempting to encourage children with rewards such as sweets or chocolate, or letting them watch their favourite TV show. However, what works really effective for incentivising children is to reward them with something they can keep and that highlights their achievement.

Stickers and certificates are great ways of doing this, as by tailoring these products to the specific task in hand, you can really make an activity seem important and worthwhile to a child. This also highlights the importance of passing certificates in later life when they may be taking exams or studying for a specific skill.

At Brainwaves, we offer custom made stickers and certificates which can be printed to show a multitude of achievements for children. It is often a good idea to have several levels of certificates or stickers, enabling the children to continually develop and work their way up to something higher as opposed to just achieving one thing and then starting on a new project or task.

What also works really well is to give each child a sticker book or folder for them to keep their certificates in. Some may be put up on the family fridge or on a notice board at times. However, having a certificate folder or sticker book keeps everything safe and gives the child somewhere to look back over all their hard work.
