When a person decides to enter a rehab for getting back his sober life and get rid of is addictions, the responsibility to treat him lies on the shoulders of the counselor he is assigned. The counselor is more like one-on-one therapist who takes charge of the treatment of the addict. The addicts stay in the centre as a community and they learn to be with one another. Most of the centers would have “buddies” who are people staying at the center for a long period of time. They would help the new person to settle down in the center.
The programs offered by different treatment centers differ from each other but there are some elements that you would find at all the centers. The centers offer individual, group and family therapies. It is made sure that the addict gets the right amount of sleep and enjoys good and nutritious meals.
Some of the centers would also offer the 12 step programs and would have to attend lectures regarding the elements in the program. This helps them get accustomed the programs and thus move on the way of recovery. They would also have to participate in the written work projects in the center.
The first week would be a bit restrictive and the person cannot contact any person outside the center. This can initially be stressful but this is a necessary part. It generally takes a week or two for the person to settle in the center. The centers provide these drug alcohol treatment programs in a safe and serene environment.
The patients should not worry about the programs and keep hope that they would successfully be able to get rid of their habits and addictions. This is the best option for a person to finally get back to a sober life and make his life productive.
