So, you’re moving away from home for perhaps the first time since you were born, and this can be a very daunting prospect for many people. And you shouldn’t feel as though you have to be confident when moving home, because it is one of the first steps into complete and utter independence from your family and friends.
When you move to university it is often quite a distance from your home and you are undoubtedly going to be removed from your comfort zone. Moving into student accommodation can be scary because you don’t know who on earth you’re going to be living with. House Hustler understands the big move to student property isn’t easy, so here are a few things to brighten up your move!
You are your own boss. No longer do you have that 11 o’clock pm curfew printed on your forehead; nor do you have to text mother dearest if you’re going to be home for tea or not; and your annoying little brother is silenced by the miles separating you. Moving away from home to live in student accommodation means you become entirely independent of previous restrictions on your lifestyle; you’re free to leave the dirty dishes; wear your pajamas all day; get out of bed at tea-time and even crawl home at breakfast time. (Not that we are encouraging any of this behaviour!)
Universities have loads of exciting activities to take your mind off moving away from home and you’ll soon find you don’t even have time to think about home. Lectures will fill your day, and what bit of the day lectures don’t fill will probably be spent asleep; and nighttimes are filled with allsorts of activities! So when you think about moving away from home and into student accommodation, don’t frown but smile at the new world that is about to be opened up to you!
